About our family

Todd grew up in a non-evangelical church while living in Plano, TX. My junior year in high school was the Lord's turning point for me. David Blakley, my football coach at the time and MBC member, introduced me to the Scriptures through an on-campus Bible study and through that, God opened my heart to trust His Son. I have been at MBC now for 5 years. The elders approached Leah and me concerning missions about 2 years ago. As newly weds, we had already become convicted about the importance of participating in/with our missionaries, but at the time, we never gave it a thought to actually work as missionaries. John and Craig sent us to Mexico to visit the Beattys and consider participating in the work down there. As a result, we are now in the process of preparing for our new lives. We anticipate leaving for Mexico near the end of Summer, 2003.

Leah grew up in several Bible-churches over my lifetime from living in California to Texas. Both my parents are believers. My conversion took place at an early age, and as a junior high schooler, I remember desiring to follow Jesus Christ. As Todd wrote above, we never expected to be missionaries, but through a crucial missionary conference we attended sometime before the elders approached us, we had already committed ourselves to supporting God's work in one way or another. The Lord's timing is very gracious.

Ministry

On July 18, 2003 we left our home, family and church assembly to begin our new ministry in Mexico. We drove from McKinney, TX to Guanajuato, Mexico along with another missionary family, Glen and Mary Beaty. Some fellow missionaries in Mexico found a house for us to rent, which is a big help, to have somewhere to land. Our first task is to settle in and unpack what little we brought, purchase funiture and applicances, and become a part of the assembly here. Then Todd will be taking Spanish training at the local University to refresh his language skills. We look forward to joining in the work here with the other missionaries and to begin sharing in the responsibilities of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the people and encouraging the believers to mature in their faith.
